Novo Meste Na Morave, Czechia – Pledgeball, a charity backed by research that supports sports bodies to engage fans on environmental sustainability and climate change effectively, and the International Biathlon Union (IBU) are proud to announce their collaboration ahead of the World Biathlon Championships, scheduled for 7th to 18th February.
This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone for both organisations. The collaboration aims to bring fans closer to the action and create a more immersive experience for enthusiasts worldwide. It also invites fans to join as a community to protect the places we hold dear, particularly those dependent on the vulnerable winter conditions.
Pledgeball, known for its commitment to sustainability, has made strides in promoting responsible practices within the sports industry. The Sustainable Travel Charter, created by Pledgeball, the FSA, and club representatives, provides a framework for making more sustainable travel decisions for football clubs. It considers player security, health and well-being, travel time, and upcoming matches.
The Charter initiative encourages teams to adopt eco-friendly travel practices, minimising their carbon footprint during competitions. By promoting sustainable travel, Pledgeball and its partners, including QPR, Charlton Athletic, Millwall, Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Forest Green Rovers, Mansfield Town, Exeter, and Swindon Town, are taking a step towards creating a more environmentally conscious sports community.
Speaking on this partnership, Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, said, “We are delighted to join forces with the International Biathlon Union for the upcoming World Biathlon Championships. This collaboration is exciting, as we invite fans from a new sector to join us in driving change through sport.”
The focus extends beyond the competition as the International Biathlon Union and Pledgeball embark on this partnership. It represents a shared vision that positively impacts the biathlon community and promotes sustainability within the broader sports landscape.
