The rivalry between Cardiff Rugby and Dragons RFC is never short of edge, and during this festive season it’s being contested on two fronts.

On December 14, Dragons took on Lyon in the EPCR Challenge Cup beating the French side on the pitch, but the wins did not stop there. Dragons supporters rallied to make pledges that added up to an incredible 68,298.91 kgCO₂e saved per year. A statement performance, both in rugby terms and climate action.

The baton was then passed across South Wales to Cardiff, where the result on the pitch was tougher to stomach, with Cardiff falling to Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship. Off the pitch, however, Cardiff fans showed exactly what backing your club really means, pledging actions equivalent to 47,830.69 kgCO₂e saved per year. Proof that even on difficult matchdays, supporters can still deliver a win.

Now attention turns to Boxing Day, when these two fierce rivals meet once again. Bragging rights are always on the line when Cardiff and Dragons face off, and this clash also brings with it an air of double jeopardy.

While the players go into battle, fans can play their part by making a pledge and pushing their team up the Pledgeball League table. Every pledge counts, and in a rivalry like this, it really matters.

This Boxing Day, back your team on the pitch, and help them win off it too. Enjoy the holiday season and let’s protect where we play.
