Pledgeball Host Sustainable Travel Workshops with Fans
Pledgeball have been holding sustainable travel workshops with football clubs and supporters, discussing practical solutions to issues fans have with matchday travel.
Taking place with Newcastle United and Cardiff City, Pledgeball brought the club, its fans and local transport operators together to help explore the major issues supporters have with getting to and from games on a matchday.
Creating and improving sustainable travel is not just a matter of encouraging change, but understanding the barriers that stand in the way of it.
Giving supporters the platform to voice their personal experiences of these specific issues and then communicate them to relevant people is crucial to improving sustainable travel options for fans.
The session encouraged exactly that, providing an open dialogue for attendees to have a constructive discussion on the topic, posing the questions: what makes sustainable travel difficult for fans right now, and what practical, fan-centred solutions could work here?
Feedback from the events was strong, with attendees giving it a rating of 4.75 out of 5, with many supporters emphasising the importance of bringing key stakeholders together to discuss the issue.
Fans commented:
“I felt listened to.
“Felt as if issues were being addressed
“Better understanding of the challenges and why they exist."
Pledgeball wish to thank the Foundation for Integrated Transport for making the workshops possible, as well as those at the clubs and supporters for their continued commitment to sustainability in football.
