Leading by Example in Sustainability
Argyle’s commitment to sustainability has already earned widespread recognition. The club ranked second in Sky Bet League One and fifth in the EFL in the inaugural Sport Positive EFL rankings, which evaluate environmental responsibility across categories like sustainable transport, clean energy, and waste reduction.
Recent initiatives at Home Park include:
- Installing rainwater harvesting systems and additional solar panels.
- Upgrading to ultra-efficient LED lighting throughout the stadium.
- Partnering with Too Good to Go to combat food waste.
- Eliminating single-use plastics and committing to green energy.
These efforts have earned Argyle prestigious accolades, including the Sustainability & Community Award at the 2022 Stadium Business Awards.
Joining the Pledgeball Movement
This partnership takes Argyle’s sustainability journey to the next level by bringing the Green Army along for the ride. Through Pledgeball, fans are encouraged to pledge sustainable lifestyle changes, such as reducing single-use plastics, conserving energy, or using public transport.
Each pledge helps reduce carbon emissions and contributes to Argyle’s standing in the Pledgeball League, where football fans across the country compete to achieve the greatest environmental impact.
Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, shared her excitement about the collaboration, “My visit to Home Park at the beginning of the month was a highlight of the year. It is incredible what the club have already done, and their drive to take this further for the benefit of their fans and community.
I can already see Argyle as Pledgeball League Champions 24/25.”
