This sustainable rugby event, featuring the Green Gazelles Rugby Club facing off against Richmond Rugby, is set to be the first of its kind. It will spotlight how sport can inspire a more eco-friendly and compassionate future. Join us for an action-packed day filled with exciting rugby, enlightening discussions, and various eco-conscious activities for all ages.
A Rugby Match with a Purpose
The Green Gazelles, the world’s first-ever earth-friendly and plant-powered rugby team, aim to promote sustainability and compassion through their love of rugby. With over 250 players, this invitational club is dedicated to raising awareness of environmental issues while demonstrating that a plant-based diet can fuel top-level sports performance.
The Big Green Clash is a Pledgeball event where attendees can make pledges to reduce CO2e emissions through small, everyday actions. By participating, you can contribute to a collective effort to “Kick Climate Change Into Touch.” These pledges demonstrate how individual actions can add up to impact the environment significantly.

Brendon Bale, the founder of the Green Gazelles and the driving force behind The Big Green Clash, is committed to combining rugby’s community spirit and positive focus to raise environmental awareness. On and off the pitch, we can tackle climate change by promoting more sustainable products & practices, eating more plant-based foods, and raising funds for earth-friendly charities to enable them to do more.”
The Earth Shield Trophy
The sustainable rugby event will not just be a friendly fixture but a battle for the prestigious Earth Shield, presented by Heather Mills. Expect to see ex-professional players and celebrities among the Green Gazelles squad, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. The Green Game is done in collaboration with the Word Forest Org, Pledgeball, and Looseheadz. All profits from the event will be donated to support a wide range of projects to foster positive environmental change. Additionally, the Green Gazelles will launch their new campaign, ‘Give it a Try,’ inspiring small individual changes for a much more significant collective impact.
