Dundee United Joins Pledgeball, Pioneering Sustainable Football Practices in Scotland

Bristol, 2 February – Pledgeball proudly announces its historic partnership with Dundee United Football Club, marking a significant milestone, historically the first Scottish Club to launch with Pledgeball. By joining Pledgeball, Dundee United confirms its commitment to sustainability in football and supporting and preserving their community, setting a precedent for fellow clubs in Scotland and beyond.

Pledgeball is a research-backed charity that supports sports bodies to engage fans on environmental sustainability and climate change. Working with stakeholders across the (currently UK) football community, from clubs, County FAs and leagues to the Football Supporters’ Association, Pledgeball effectively mobilises fans and players to make pro-environmental choices, reducing emissions on game day and beyond.

With this partnership, Dundee United joins Pledgeball’s esteemed family of clubs, united in their pursuit of positive change. It serves as a kick-off of Dundee United’s commitment to nurturing a brighter, more sustainable future for both the beautiful game of football and our precious planet.

Arabs have the potential to make a significant change:

  • If all Dundee United’s X followers reduced their meat consumption by 50%, it would save the same emissions as taking 7294 cars off the road.
  • If all Dundee United’s X followers used public transport instead of driving, it would save the same emissions as taking 15131 cars off the road.

Pledgeball CEO Katie Cross expresses her enthusiasm for Dundee United’s decision to join the movement: “We are thrilled to welcome Dundee United as the first Scottish club to join Pledgeball. We are excited to begin this journey with them and their wonderful community. We all underestimate our potential to drive change: strong communities, like Dundee United’s, have so much potential to make waves.”

Chief Operating Officer, Joe Rice, added: “We’re excited to become the first club in Scotland to partner with Plegeball and implement their innovative, group-based sustainable climate change model.”

“Our involvement will bring continued awareness of the need for action and allow our fans to unite in a fun, engaging way to take small, positive steps in everyday life to evoke pro-environmental change.”

In line with this partnership, Dundee United is thrilled to announce its inaugural Pledgeball match, slated to occur on March 9th against Arbroath. Fans have the opportunity to win exclusive experiences, including:
